Following a brand refresh, Monkey Shoulder wanted a hand paint campaign to communicate the craftsmanship and convivial joy contained in every bottle of their whiskey. Colossal Studios introduced them to two artists local to Chicago and Austin, and just like a craft cocktail, our combined creative efforts made the murals even stronger. 

MEET THE ARTISTS

Anthony Lewellen

Anthony Lewellen is a Chicago based multidisciplinary art maker. In his formative years he was an innovative figure within Chicago’s graffiti culture and is still active to this day. Early on he made a name for himself in the Midwest and beyond hallmarked by street work that featured a simple bold palette and emotionally complex characters born out of direct observation and digestion of life in the city. 

Will bryant

Will Bryant is an artist, designer, and illustrator based in Austin, Texas. He’d like to think that he makes fun, exuberant, and sometimes humorous work. In addition to collaborating with brands, he also continues to develop a body of work in the form of painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. 

With top-tier talent in the mix, we took a serious approach to this monkey business. The resulting designs reflected the local landscape and community, and clearly invited adults of Chicago and Austin to grab a glass and share in the fun.
