For Christies’ first Out of Home campaign, Colossal recreated Roy Lichtenstein’s Red and White Brushstrokes, which turns a Pop eye on the building blocks of Abstract Expressionism (read: we painted a painting that throws shade at painting). Two idiosyncrasies set this project apart: the artwork was kept to scale, but it didn’t fill the media space, so we sampled and recreated the bricks on three sides of the mural; and, faced with thousands of Lichtenstein’s signature Ben-Day dots, our guys ran to the art store, got pom poms, and stuck them to sticks to fill in the field.

Christie’s shared photos and videos of Colossal’s work on their Instagram page before offering the piece in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale. It sold for $28 million.
