20 years of always hand paint
“First” is a funny thing.
It can be a “WTF-are-we-doing” kind of feeling. It’s sometimes a frightening risk and often a fabulous thrill. It’s approaching every failure as a lesson. It’s finding confidence in your abilities.“First” just takes a little faith.
To understand how far we’ve come in twenty years, we need to consider how we began. We need to take you back to the new millennium when hand paint had all but vanished except in the fond memories of a few makers and dreamers. It seemed the last remaining place for sign painting was in the hearts of those who practiced the craft.
Early Icons
We owe everything to our early clients who took a chance on the creativity and talent of our team. The first few years of muraling took the city by storm, reintroducing craftsmanship to the New York City landscape.
Next Generation
Early on, we were thinking about the future. If we want to keep this craft alive, we need to cultivate the talents of the next generation of walldogs. Enter the first and only hand paint apprentice program dedicated to teaching photorealistic sign painting to the next generation of wall dogs. We recruit people from all walks of life, all levels of experience, and teach them our techniques. Give us grit, hustle, and passion, and we’ll give you a walldog. Ours is the only program of its kind that pays apprentices to learn, allowing them to ascend to Colossal greatness and ensuring excellence with every brushstroke.
Lasting legacy
Twenty years is more than an anniversary. It’s over seven thousand days we chose to rise with the sun, meet at the wall, and make it happen. It’s a commitment affirmed with every project, every brushstroke, every beat of our walldog hearts to always hand paint.
