New York City was the epicenter of COVID-19 when it first hit the US, but thanks to the bravery and dedication of essential workers, the city that never sleeps stayed wide awake.

To honor these everyday heroes—EMTs, doctors, sanitation workers—the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene launched a multimedia city-wide out-of-home campaign from July 20 through August 23, including three hand-painted murals by our crew.

Our walls in Manhattan and Brooklyn were selected because of their massive size and strategic placement, guaranteeing visibility across highly trafficked thoroughfares in Herald Square, Soho, and Williamsburg.

During the worst weeks of the pandemic, New Yorkers from every walk of life continued to show up to serve their city and their communities. We are honored to recognize their bravery and their service.   Dr. Oxiris Barbot, Health Commissioner
