In 1983 Roy Lichtenstein created the Greene Street Mural, a temporary wallscape in New York’s Castelli Gallery that was destroyed after the show’s six-week run. Over 30 years later, the Lichtenstein Foundation and Gagosian teamed up with Colossal to recreate the 18-by-96-foot work of art. Keeping with the spirit of Lichtenstein’s original vision, the piece was once again painted over after the exhibition’s finish. To commemorate the event’s limited run, the Gagosian created a printed book featuring photos of the artwork’s production.
