Inez & Vinoodh
Inez & Vinoodh
Inez and Vinoodh are masters of photography in fashion, culture, and advertising: portraits of everyone from Barack Obama to Rihanna to Kate Moss, and photo essays in major mags like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vanity Fair. So when the Dutch duo asked Colossal to replicate 9 of their iconic photographs as large-scale paintings, we immediately cracked open the paint and got to brushing.
Leading up to Vogue Italia’s Photo Festival in Milan, our painted canvases were hung in the Palazzo Reale for Inez and Vinoodh’s first-ever exhibition held inside a public institute. The event, Hi-Lo Transformers, was a richly decorated and widely recognized affair: Vogue Italia, W Magazine, and V Magazine were among the elite press that showed Colossal and Inez & Vinoodh love.
Walking around New York and Brooklyn, you see these giant wall paintings that are done by Colossal Media that are ad campaigns like Gucci or Saint Laurent, painted on the walls outside. We’ve always dreamt of having that kind of a translation of our work but then bringing it back inside. – Inez & Vinoodh
